This past Thursday, our homie Pan celebrated his birthday. But rather than spending a wild night out on the town, he chose to spend it with close friends at a charity event. He wanted to give back and do something a little more meaningful for his birthday. Chicago Art Reach teamed up with legendary artist Tyrue “Slang” Jones who gave us a very unique art auction at the Zhou B. Art Center. All proceeds also went to CASA.
“For nearly 25 years, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County has helped abused and neglected children who have become lost in an overwhelmed and under-resourced foster care system find a place to call home.CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge and assigned to one child’s case at a time. They research the background of the case, serve as a voice for the child in court, and work with everyone involved to find a safe, permanent home for the child. Currently there are over 6,000 children in Cook County’s foster care system. Last year, 300 CASA volunteers donated more than 10,000 hours to help 700 children. However, due to limited resources CASA can only help about 10 percent of the children who need us.”
